August:Fuel going up
Oh, what fantastic news! August is just around the corner, and South Africans can look forward to yet another round of fuel price hikes! Because, you know, who doesn’t love paying more for fuel, especially when they’re already struggling to make ends meet?
According to the Central Energy Fund’s mysterious and magical “unaudited data,” petrol prices are set to climb by around 35 cents per litre for ULP95 and a whopping 30 cents per litre for petrol 93ULP. But hey, that’s not all! The real treat is reserved for diesel users, who are expected to endure a delightful increase of approximately 72 cents per litre. How thrilling! You get a fuel price hike, and you get a fuel price hike – everyone gets a fuel price hike!
Don’t worry, it’s not like the cost of living in South Africa is high enough already. We wouldn’t want anyone to feel too financially secure, would we? So let’s just go ahead and blame those pesky international oil prices for this mess. It’s not like we have any control over that or could, you know, invest in alternative energy sources or anything.
But wait, there’s a silver lining! The Rand has decided to flex its muscles and improve its value against the US Dollar throughout the month. Isn’t that just fantastic news? It’s like winning a consolation prize at a rigged carnival game. “Congratulations, your currency is slightly less worthless than it was before!” Oh, how comforting.
So, dear motorists, don’t forget to plan your trips meticulously and keep your tires in tip-top shape. Because, as we all know, that’s the real reason for these price hikes, right? It has nothing to do with arbitrary decisions made by those in power, of course not!
But hey, don’t despair; the Automobile Association is here to save the day with its invaluable advice. Adjust your budgets accordingly, folks, because why should you be allowed to enjoy the hard-earned money you have left after paying for fuel? Priorities, people!
In conclusion, dear South Africans, embrace the upcoming fuel price hikes with open arms. Rejoice in the fact that you get to contribute even more of your earnings to the government’s bottomless pit. After all, who needs disposable income, right? It’s highly overrated. So, rev up those engines, tighten those belts, and get ready for another month of fuel price fun! Hooray!
